Seeing Our Own Beauty | Rebecca Saniga Photography | Connellsville Boudoir Photographer
It’s no secret that we women are our own worst critics. We see the flaws all too easily, while failing to see the beauty that others do when they look at us. We have a certain perspective of ourselves that is nearly impossible to change, no matter how many people tell us otherwise. I am guilty of this as much as anyone else. I am guilty of seeing the sagging baby belly and untoned arms, the tired eyes and unwashed hair.
But my family sees something different when they look at me. My husband sees the caring green eyes that he first fell in love with. My son sees a proud smile and welcoming arms when I hug him after he has learned something new. I, too, am learning to see what they see. Slowly, I am realizing that I am beautiful – right now, as I am.
Of course, there are things about myself that I would like to change. I would like to lose weight and have a smaller waist, but I am beautiful in this moment of my life just as I would be if I looked exactly how I wanted to. This is exactly the reason I am a boudoir photographer. It is so important to be able to see yourself as others see you. Every woman deserves to be pampered and made to feel as special as they are and then to have that captured in photos to cherish forever to remember how she felt at that exact moment in time. That moment where she felt as beautiful as everyone sees her, and hopefully as she starts to see herself.
